Choreography: Susan Jaffe | Music: Maurice Ravel

Usually performed just as an orchestral work, Boléro was originally composed as a ballet score. (Ravel was commissioned to create the work by Ida Rubinstein, a ballet company director and dancer in Paris.) The music is now returned back to its roots, with movement mirroring the passion and intensity of Ravel’s pulsing rhythm. Originally performed in 2021, Bolero is a sculptural piece that entrances the audience with sharp, sensual choreography. The musicality will be further accentuated in these performances as the dancers, dressed in monochromatic red and black costumes, take the stage at Heinz Hall in front of The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
