PBT in Your Classroom
The power of the arts can be truly transformative – inspiring creativity, sparking curiosity and connecting people and ideas.
Expose your students to the performing arts and connect classroom concepts with the language of dance. PBT offers a variety of educational classroom programs that blend movement concepts with storytelling, vocabulary building, science and math. Plus, educators benefit from additional activity guides and resources to strengthen the connection with regular classroom curriculum.
“In Step” Instructional Performances
“In Step with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre” is a series of instructional, performance-based programs that introduces learners of all ages to the art of ballet through a presentation in the classroom or at PBT Studios. Resource guides are available for each program. PBT connects with more than 2,000 students annually through these instructional performances.

Residency programs are extended encounters with dance inspired by curricular themes and topics that students and teachers are currently exploring in the classroom. Residencies may be as few as four in-school visits or as many as you would like! Our professional teaching artists draw on their backgrounds in dance and arts integration to instruct all of our residencies. We tailor each residency to the needs of individual classrooms and schools and align content with PDE Academic Standards and national standards for dance and the arts.
