Community Programs & Classes
Connect with ballet in your backyard.
PBT’s education team brings ballet into neighborhoods throughout the greater Pittsburgh region for creative movement and storytelling sessions and interactive demos. These programs provide an up-close look at ballet dancers, training and technique, illuminating the many nuances of movement and encouraging people of all ages to use dance to create, express and explore.
Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is proud to partner with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County libraries to visit local branches throughout the Pittsburgh region. Our fun, interactive programs mingle storytelling and movement. All programs are free and open to the public, though registration may be required.
Join us for a 30-minute up-on-your-feet introduction to a ballet story, learn the basics of the ballet art form, and to meet a ballerina! For boys and girls, Pre-K – 5th grade.
Dance the Story!
This four-week dance class is for children ages 3-5. Children can move and groove to favorite stories such as Barnyard Dance Party and Giraffes Can’t Dance. Each class will begin with simple stretches and warm-ups before journeying into the story and its characters through movement and song. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate with their child!
