David O’Matz joined Pittsburgh Ballet Theater at the beginning of the 2022/23 season. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, he trained at the Ballet Academy of Pittsburgh before attending the San Francisco Ballet School in 2017. He joined Joffrey Ballet Studio Company in 2020 and soon afterward joined Orlando Ballet in 2021. His repertory with Orlando Ballet included Pas de Trois (Swan Lake), Hilarion (Giselle), and Tom Buchanan (The Great Gatsby). Since joining Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, his appearances with the company have included featured roles in Yoshiaki Nakano’s Catharsis, Nacho Duato’s Duende, and Arabian and Snow King in The Nutcracker.
