Danielle Downey, of Erie, PA, joined Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre in 2007. She received her early training with the Lake Erie Ballet and studied in the PBTS Graduate Program before joining the company. Featured roles include first-movement principal of George Balanchine’s Western Symphony; Tall Girl in Balanchine’s Rubies; Big Swans in Terrence Orr’s Swan Lake; Odalisques in Le Corsaire; Zulma in Orr’s Giselle; the third shade variation in La Bayadère; Tiger Lily in Jorden Morris’ Peter Pan; Queen of Hearts in Derek Deane’s Alice in Wonderland; and Arabian, Snow Queen, and the Sugar Plum Fairy in Orr’s The Nutcracker. Some contemporary credits include Jiří Kylián’s Petite Mort and Sinfonietta; Jerome Robbins’ The Concert; Mark Morris’ Maelstrom, Sandpaper Ballet, and Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes; and Twyla Tharp’s Octet and Nine Sinatra Songs
