Five levels of focused, consistent training with the distinguished staff of PBT School faculty. Students are challenged to strengthen their ballet technique while they learn other dance disciplines and repertory. Emphasis is on the enjoyment of dance within the respect and discipline of classical ballet training.

It is not uncommon to spend more than one year in a level. Advancement through the Levels is based on faculty recommendation and the approval of the School Directors.

Returning students should register for the class indicated on their year-end evaluation. New students are required to schedule and attend a placement class to assure proper placement–phone: 412-281-6727.

Performance Opportunities

At the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, performance opportunities are part of the school philosophy. Student Division students perform in the school’s annual Spring Performance. Spring Performance is designed to reflect the student’s journey from Level I to Pre-Professional training. Students perform at the Byham Theater. Throughout the year, some dancers in the Student Division may have the opportunity to perform in PBT Company repertoire at the Benedum Center.
