PBTS has a distinguished reputation as an artistic and instructional leader of dance training. The School is under the direction of internationally renowned PBT Artistic Director Terrence S. Orr, School Directors Marjorie Grundvig and Dennis Marshall, and many other internationally acclaimed PBT faculty members and guest teachers. PBTS works to instill a long-term value of the art-form in each student while emphasizing the study of diverse, high quality curriculum in the setting of a positive and inspirational learning environment.

CHILDREN'S DIVISION — ages 2 through 7

Classes for children ages 2 through 7 with weekday and weekend options. No placement class is needed for the Children’s Division.

Parents should register based on the age of the child on 9/1/2008. The student will be assessed by the class instructor and may be re-assigned to a different level if necessary. Half of total annual tuition is due on or before September 2, 2008; remaining half of total annual tuition is due on or before the start of the second semester on January 20, 2009.

Mommy & Me — age 2
Tuesday – 9:30 to 10:00 or Saturday – 9:00 to 9:30
Mommy & Me Tuition:  $394

Pre-Ballet A — age 3
Tuesday – 10:00 to 10:45 or Saturday – 9:30 to 10:15

Pre-Ballet B — age 4
Tuesday – 10:45 to 11:30 or Saturday – 10:15 to 11:00

Pre-Ballet C — age 5
Wednesday – 5:00 to 5:45 or Saturday – 11:00 to 11:45

Pre-Ballet D — age 6
Wednesday – 5:45 to 6:30 or Saturday – 11:45 to 12:30
Pre-Ballet Tuition:  $594

Beginning Ballet — age 7
Wednesday – 6:30 to 7:30 or Saturday – 12:30 to 1:30

STUDENT DIVISION - Ages 7+

Returning students should register for the class indicated on their year-end evaluation. New students are required to schedule and attend a placement class to assure proper placement – phone: 412-281-6727.

Young Men

Level IV attend Men’s Technique on Wednesday evenings 6:00-7:30 and Saturday 12:00-1:30 plus two of the scheduled Level IV classes listed above. Level V attends Men’s Technique on Wednesday evenings 6:00-7:30 and Saturday 12:00-1:30 plus three of the scheduled Level V classes listed above.

Student Jazz

All Student Division students may elect to enroll in an additional jazz class. Tuition fee for all jazz classes is $550/school year.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL DIVISION - Ages 13+

Admission to the program is by audition and invitation only.  Phone the PBTS Office to schedule an audition.

Part-Time High School Tuition: $4142
Full-Time High School Tuition: $5792

Full-time students attend a morning class, 8:00-9:30 a.m., in addition to their level classes below.

Level VI

Levels VII & VIII

Monday through Friday – 3:00-5:45
Saturday – 9:00-1:30

Graduate Program Tuition: $4475

OPEN DIVISION

The Open Division classes – Ballet and Pilates Mat – are designed for the adult (ages 14 and above) interested in quality instruction in a non-professional class environment.  Students attend classes as their personal schedule permits.  See the Open Class schedule >

Open Ballet & Pilates class fees:
$15 per class or $130 for 10-class card.

Class cards are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

PBTS also offers Private Pilates sessions with a certified Pilates Instructor.  Phone the PBTS office to schedule a consultation with our Pilates Program Coordinator.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Registration: Students must submit a completed registration form and appropriate payment prior to attending first class.  Placement classes are required for new students in Student Levels I-V – please phone the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School office at 412-281-6727 to arrange a placement class. Admission to the Pre-Professional program is by audition and invitation only.

Tuition: Children’s Level must pay for each semester prior to attending the first class of the semester. Payment Plan available for Student and Pre-Professional Divisions: non-refundable $500 due upon registration; balance of 1/3 full tuition due by the first day of class; balance of 1/3 total annual tuition due on or before December 1; tuition balance due on or before March 1. A 5% discount is offered to Student and Pre-Professional Divisions when full tuition is paid on or before August 15.

Financial Aid: Limited financial aid is available.  Applications are due by August 15 for consideration. No Financial aid available for Children’s Division.

Withdrawal: Notice of withdrawal must be submitted to the PBTS Office in writing. All registrations require parent signature on cancellation policy (reverse side of registration form).

Attendance: Consistent attendance is required. Students/families must notify the School office of any class that will be missed. Student Division may make up missed classes in an equal or lower level. Students arriving 15 minutes late for class must observe class only.

Observation: Parents are invited to observe classes during designated Parent Observation weeks. See school calendar >

PBT Performance Tickets: To qualify for a 20% discount on Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre performances, please identify yourself as a PBT school parent when ordering tickets from the Benedum at 412-456-6666. School parents ordering a 4 or 5 performance subscription are entitled to a 25% discount.

PBT reserves the right to change or cancel any course. Classes cancelled due to inclement weather, rehearsals, Nutcracker, etc. are not rescheduled or refunded. Student Division may opt to make up classes in equivalent or lesser level.
