Production Guidelines
Interested presenters will be required to provide PBT with information on the guidelines listed below.
Stage/Performance Space:
- Proscenium Width: 36' to 50'–46' is optimal
- Proscenium Height: 18' to 30'
- Pro to Back Wall: 30' to 50' – depending on the program
Floor Characteristics:
Stage floor must be level, even and in good condition. PBT travels with its own sprung floor. PBT uses this floor regardless of whether stage floor is sprung or not to ensure a consistent performance subsurface for its dancers. This sprung floor is covered with a Harlequin® vinyl dance floor, with which PBT also travels. PBT staff will supervise crew supplied by presenter in the installation of both of the above.
Dressing Rooms:
Presenter will supply sufficient space for 35 dancers (male and female) with tables, mirrors, chairs, and ample light for the application of make-up. Bathrooms with showers must be separate from restrooms used by audience.
Temperature:
Stage, dressing rooms, and any space that connects the two must be maintained at a temperature of 70-75° Fahrenheit to prevent potential injury to dancers.
Lighting:
Presenter will provide all lighting equipment and control. The average light plot includes 250 control channels @ 2.4 kW each; 175 Lekos on stage (6x9's 6x12's and 6x16's); front-of-house lighting with three front light colors and 3 colors from each box boom type position; 36 PAR-64 Units at 1kW for back light (or it’s equivalent); cyclorama lighting in three colors from the top and bottom – 6kW per color; 8–10 (depending on depth of stage) side lighting booms consisting of 12' pipes with a capacity of seven instruments each; and two front of house follow spots of sufficient brightness to cut through a typically bright stage.
Sound:
If performance is to pre-recorded music, PBT will provide source and playback deck. Presenter will supply 4 stage monitor speakers and all audience speakers, as well as sufficient amplification and other equipment to prove full rich sound to all of these speakers. Presenter will provide one microphone backstage for announcements, and another one which can be used for curtain speeches if such is desired. Presenter will provide an adequate backstage communication system. Presenter will also provide a tuned upright piano for use in Company Class on stage.
Crew:
PBT has a contract with I.A.T.S.E. and will call a local stage crew by “yellow card” through union channels at the local presenter’s expense. PBT warrants that each yellow card call will only be the number required to mount and run the performance(s). If no I.A.T.S.E. local has jurisdiction, or if the existing I.A.T.S.E. local chooses not to send workers, then the presenter can fill the call from another qualified labor pool.
