George Balanchine: Celebrating a Legend
April 15-17, 2011 - Benedum Center
With the Orchestra
George Balanchine’s works claim the Benedum Center stage as Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre builds upon its long-standing tradition of ballets by this American Master. The terse, fast and explosive Agon, A PBT premiere, was created in 1957 to a commissioned Stravinsky score, and stands as one of Mr. B’s greatest master works. The Prodigal Son, Balanchine’s iconic 1929 masterpiece based on a Bible story of sin and redemption, serves up one of ballet’s greatest roles for a male dancer.
